A Step Closer

Last night, we enjoyed an evening with our travel companions. Ed and Ivonne came over to discuss some of the last minute details, travel preparations, and of course, share some dessert with us! :) We might be going on a mission trip, working on doing the "Lord's work", but we still LOVE to eat! :)

We were able to chat with Elijah, our contact in Romania, who is currently in Texas with his family. This was wonderful to be able to hear, first-hand, some of what is expected while on our trip. Most importantly, again, we found that the seminary will be providing and feeding us 3 meals/day while we are working at the University. Dustin is very concerned about where his next meal is coming from and when! He's a growing boy, you know! :) So, we now know we will be fed and housed at the seminary, complete with linens, towels, showers, and beds! YAY for getting the necessities covered! This is actually a huge answer to our prayers as it will allay a huge financial burden for Randy and I and our family. Feeding a family of 5 at a restaurant (any restaurant) is EXPENSIVE!!! So that was a major relief to our ministry budget. Praise the Lord and thank you Emanuel University!!!

Ed had a CD of pictures that a survey group put together of some of the damage to Emanuel. The dorm rooms have experienced significant water damage and we will be working to repair some of this damage. It appears that some of the work will involve being around mold (one of my major allergens!), as well as a lot of dust from scraping texture from the walls. Ed is planning to purchase rubber gloves and masks for us to protect our health and lungs as we do this work. I would covet your prayers for Dustin and I especially in this regard. Dustin has asthma and being around this type of fine dust concerns my mother's heart. I would also covet your prayers for my allergies, as mold is my biggest problem. We want to remain strong and healthy while we are in Romania, and be able to help Emanuel as much as possible. Please pray for safety and protection of our lungs and our voices. :)

WE discussed multiple things concerning packing details, clothing, soccer balls, singing engagements, work detail, sleeping arrangements, sightseeing in Oradea, and just enjoyed being together. I'm so excited to see what the Lord is going to do in us and through us during this trip.

After our lengthy discussion and phone call to Elijah, we spent some time in concentrated prayer for our trip. Our hearts are unified and purposed on the success of the gospel in everything we do. We all want to portray Christ in the most obvious ways so that others will SEE a difference in us. We are all very excited, humbled and joyous as we plan our departure in just a few more days.

Specific prayer needs for today:

  • Ed found out last night that he will be speaking not one time, but 2 times at the Baptist church in Oradea. Pray for him as he prepares another message!
  • We will be singing at least 3 times while in Oradea. 2 times in the church, and 1 in a village church. This church averages over 3,500 people in attendance. (humbled beyond words at this opportunity!)
  • Travel safety
  • Health for all 7 of us
  • Security issues while in Budapest, particularly (things disappear easily here, we're told)
  • Randy is earnestly practicing the bass, pray for him to memorize parts and chords
We love you all and covet your prayers. Praying with us is partnering with us in this endeavor.

Kim
